The claim isn't over when the payout is.

A payout feels like the finish line — but for the client, it's often where the real work starts. Here's why the reinstatement stage is the part of the claims lifecycle brokers can't afford to leave unmanaged.

The claim isn't over when the payout is.

For most brokers, a payout feels like the finish line. The claim's been assessed, the number's been agreed, the funds have moved — case closed. But for the client sitting with a damaged home or business, the payout is where the real work usually starts, not where it ends.

That gap is where things go quietly wrong. A payout with no oversight on what happens next means no one's checking whether the repair actually matches the damage that was paid for. No one's confirming the contractor used the money for reinstatement rather than a patch job. No one's verifying the property is actually back to pre-loss condition — until the next claim reveals it wasn't.

This is the part of the claims lifecycle that gets the least attention and carries some of the most risk. An underinsured, poorly repaired asset doesn't show up as a problem immediately. It shows up the next time something goes wrong, when the client discovers the “repair” never really happened, or happened badly enough that it needs redoing.

CMS treats the payout as the middle of the process, not the end of it. Our Reinstatement service manages repair and rebuild all the way through to pre-loss condition — inside the same accountable, documented process as the rest of the claim. That means the asset stays insurable, the client's cover stays accurate, and the broker isn't left explaining a second claim that traces back to a first one that was never properly closed out.

A managed claims partner doesn't disappear once the cheque clears. If anything, that's when the work that actually protects the client — and the broker's book — begins.
